The Great American Filling Station- Part 2

Image
I know we have been doing repeat restaurants lately but, when something is just so dang good, you HAVE to go back and try other things on the menu. For appetizer we ordered the Chilean wings. These are some of the best wings we have ever had! They weren't too vinegary, they were fresh, sweet, not too spicy. Average size wings, they were not too small and not too big. But, they were a little dry.  My fiancee ordered the Glabis burger. A burger made with homemade bacon pepper jelly and brie cheese. It's perfectly balanced with saltiness and sweetness and the burger is perfectly cooked. Instead of fries, he got a side salad. Made with fresh, mixed greens and homemade ranch dressing.  He also ordered the BLTC. A bacon, lettuce, tomato, and cheese sandwich that's loaded with bacon. This is a must try for bacon lovers! The flavors are amazing!  The mac and cheese is the main reason we came. It's disappointing when something is good the first time you come and w...

Tai Chi Chattanooga's first Poke bowl restaurant is AWESOME!

Image
Chattanooga now has a poke bowl restaurant and I was so excited when I found out we were getting one! Located between Firehouse Subs and David's Bridal on Gunbarrel. When we went they had only opened the day before. When you walk in you see the booths seem private as you can't see anyone sitting there until you pass by. Now, its kinda confusing on how to order so, I'll clear it up for you, before walking to the counter you grab a card and a pencil and check of what you want on or in your bowl or burrito. They have ramen, sushi or poke bowls. Here is my card as I was filling it out: You can't go wrong with this place since you pick everything that goes in it. Everything was fresh and looked amazing! They should call it a rice box since it doesn't come in a bowl and I think its a cool concept. Since everything in my bowl is checked off on the sheet above, I won't name anything in it. My fiancee got a ramen bowl with extra beef. The broth was spicy and VER...

Edley's Barbecue

I know some of you like this place, we don't. Plain and simple. When we walked in we knew how everything would go right off the bat. Since this was our first (and  last time here) there was no indication as what to do. No sign that said, "please seat yourself","server will seat you", nothing. Someone finally noticed our confusion and directed us to the ordering counter. Walking toward the counter I noticed a very tiny sign directing you to the counter. When we got to the counter we were greeted by multiple people and everyone was friendly. Its got a sports bar feel to it. We ordered and sat down and what was odd was our food came before our appetizer, way before. In fact, we were halfway through our meal when it came. I will start with the appetizer. We got the Sausage and Cheese Plate. It wasn't what we thought it would be. The cheese is sprinkled with bbq rub and the crackers were just plain.....and packaged. Yeah, that makes for a good presentation.  ...

Miller's Ale House

We've been here about 3 times now and have never had a problem. Last night was the worst it has ever been. Now, I understand what it's like to work in a kitchen at Christmas but, still you need to learn how to manage your time and schedule the right amount of people to prevent problems such as the ones we had. For appetizer, we ordered the southwestern chicken egg rolls. These had good flavor. I feel kinda guily for not writing much about the food due to the fact that our experience was about a 2 out of 5. For my entree, I ordered the Tex-Mex Chile Chicken Nachos. Yes, I know it's an appetizer but, I was craving nachos. This would've been better with less chips and more of everything else. I felt it didn't satisfy my nacho craving. It tasted good but, I felt like it was missing something.  My fiancee ordered the 36 piece shrimp and fries. This is where everything went downhill. The fries were either old or they were cooked in old oil. They were the WORST fri...

The Great American Filling Station -The best "Mom and Pop" Americana Restaurant in Chattanooga

Image
Walking in to the restaurant brought back childhood memories as I used to go in the Golden Gallon gas station that used to be where the restaurant currently occupies. Located across from Publix on East Brainerd Road. There's evidence that it used to be a gas station as there are the gas pump handles are on the wall and as handles on the restroom doors, which are super clean. Although, they are clean enough to eat off the floor, I still wouldn't reccomend it as it's a restroom(no offense). The Great American Filling Station is a down to home restaurant, a comfort place that is family oriented. There are no freezers and rverything is homemade. For appetizers, we got the Bull Bites. They are very tender and juicy pieces of steak that melt in your mouth.   Next, we ordered the Tennessee Bacon Cheese Fries. Guys, the fries are out of this world!!! They are handcut and you don't even need any ketchup on them! They taste so fresh and they aren't greasy. The cheese s...

Bantam and Biddy - Downtown Chattanooga

Image
Chattanooga's newest downtown restaurant is located at 728 Market Street. I wouldn't have heard of this place if not for someone tagging me on Instagram and boy, am I glad he did! Walking in its a very comfy, cozy place. Everything is nice and clean. And wouldn't you know that our server was the one one who runs their Instagram?! Talk about fate! Some may not be able to tell by their name that they are mainly known for their chicken, as bantam is a small breed of chicken. They serve breakfast all day and they start serving lunch at 11:30. They have fresh made juices, coffees and teas. We ordered the Apple Zing. It is very refreshing and you can taste the carrot and ginger along with the apple.  I ordered the Big chicken Skillet. Its a skillet full of their home fries, onions, peppers, bacon, 3 eggs, cheese, and 3 chicken tenders. The home fries were cooked and flavored perfectly. The eggs were fluffy and the chicken was the best we have ever had! The chicken was so juic...

Bar Louie Hamilton Place Part 2

Eating around the mall is hectic, especially when it's Christmastime. Our original decision was to go to The Cheesecake Factory but, with lines still going out the door we changed our mind and just went here instead. We were told to seat ourselves wherever we liked as it wasn't busy. For an appetizer, we ordered the Bavarian Pretzel Sticks. They come 4 to an order with cinnamon butter, queso and honey mustard. They are hard on the outside and soft on the inside, but, they have no salt on them as pretzels should have. The queso is a bit spicy but still good. The cinnamon butter isn't whipped. Don't get me wrong, its good but it just doesn't fit for an appetizer, it would be better as a dessert if the pretzels were covered in sugar. Pretzels were pretty average and didn't give us anything to jump for joy.  We had a craving for nachos so we decided to order the Buffalo Chicken Totchos. The hot sauce on this dish is very overpowering making everything taste like...

Greg's Sandwich Works

Image
Ok, so some of you might have a jaw drop moment when you hear that neither one of us have ever been here, no, not even when it was Golly Whoppers. Making our way to the counter the menu hangs from the celling and it is very easy to read but, hard to choose from since everything sounded so good. But, hey, when is that ever a problem? The best sandwiches on the menu are the Greg Special and the Italian. The Greg Special has turkey, lettuce, tomato, jalapenos, and their homemade pimento cheese, which is very creamy and delicious.  The next best sandwich is the Italian. Its got everything an Italian sandwich should have on it and its bursting with flavor. Topped with ham, salami, provolone cheese, tomato, onion, Italian dressing, salt, pepper, oregano, and Parmesan cheese.  The wraps are great too. The South of the Border wrap has fritos, lettuce, black beans, corn, onions, grilled chicken, and salsa with ranch on the side.  The chili cheese dog is great with Nath...
