Edley's Barbecue
I know some of you like this place, we don't. Plain and simple. When we walked in we knew how everything would go right off the bat. Since this was our first (and last time here) there was no indication as what to do. No sign that said, "please seat yourself","server will seat you", nothing. Someone finally noticed our confusion and directed us to the ordering counter. Walking toward the counter I noticed a very tiny sign directing you to the counter. When we got to the counter we were greeted by multiple people and everyone was friendly. Its got a sports bar feel to it. We ordered and sat down and what was odd was our food came before our appetizer, way before. In fact, we were halfway through our meal when it came. I will start with the appetizer. We got the Sausage and Cheese Plate. It wasn't what we thought it would be. The cheese is sprinkled with bbq rub and the crackers were just plain.....and packaged. Yeah, that makes for a good presentation.
I have to apologize for a half described blog as it was it was back during the beginning of summer and was forgotten about. In fact, I was almost too embarrassed to post this because of our experience. Sad to say that we will not be back. If you want better bbq head on over to Mission's on Gunbarrel. They don't own any freezers and everything is made from scratch and they give discounts to vets and even have special parking for vets in front of the restaurant.
I got the pork platter. The pork is nicely smoked. For sides, I got baked beans and potato salad. The baked beans are mixed with pork and is more like chili and semi-mashed and is spicy. Looking back at the picture though it almost looks like pinto beans. The potato salad is red potatoes with skin on, tasted like a loaded baked potato and had a good flavor. The cornbread is great! It reminds me of a cast iron skillet corn bread, spicy yet sweet.
My fiancee ordered the brisket. Not much to say about it except that it was good.
The slaw was vinegar-y, sweet and the bean salad was black beans and black eyed peas and also a sweet vinegar taste. He also ordered banana pudding as an extra side and didn't get it with the rest of his food. If that's the case, it should be on the dessert menu not on the "sides" menu. The banana pudding is whipped cream flavored and has bananas and wafers in it. Not the best we've had.
Still not impressed, or full, my fiancee ordered a sandwich that is not on the menu. It was a special they had on the board that day called The Kermit. It was good, a few mistakes, but, would still recommend it. It's a sandwich that has fried pickles and I think an avocado sauce on it.
