Greg's Sandwich Works

Ok, so some of you might have a jaw drop moment when you hear that neither one of us have ever been here, no, not even when it was Golly Whoppers. Making our way to the counter the menu hangs from the celling and it is very easy to read but, hard to choose from since everything sounded so good. But, hey, when is that ever a problem? The best sandwiches on the menu are the Greg Special and the Italian. The Greg Special has turkey, lettuce, tomato, jalapenos, and their homemade pimento cheese, which is very creamy and delicious. 
The next best sandwich is the Italian. Its got everything an Italian sandwich should have on it and its bursting with flavor. Topped with ham, salami, provolone cheese, tomato, onion, Italian dressing, salt, pepper, oregano, and Parmesan cheese. 
The wraps are great too. The South of the Border wrap has fritos, lettuce, black beans, corn, onions, grilled chicken, and salsa with ranch on the side. 
The chili cheese dog is great with Nathan's hot dogs and homemade chili. They make their chili and soups every day, oh, and don't forget about their desserts(which they also make every day!) They even set aside a day just for steak sandwiches, sadly, I have forgotten what day that would be. With all the yummy food on the menu we will definitely be back to try more!

Ooltewah's newest restaurant has soul

Davis Wayne's is located in Cambridge Square in the old Cuban restaurant location. They opened back in October and honestly I wish I would've known about this place before now. Everyone is friendly and that makes you want to come back. Food is very good. The Pork Tenderloin is very good, not too spicy. The mac and cheese is off the chain, very cheesy! The greens are seasoned perfectly, which is hard to find in a restaurant. The broccoli is al dente and also perfectly seasoned and covered in real cheese. You can tell its not cheap, processed cheese. The fried corn is buttery and also seasoned right. The sweet potato casserole is good and is torched on top. Chicken is so tender not even a butter knife is needed to cut it, juicy and flavorful. The cornbread is great! Menu style is different. Now, the desserts are made from scratch every day. Mike's Tavern

Mike's Tavern is located at 5211 HWY 153 in Hixson behind California Tortilla and across the street from Smoothie King. We were immediately greeted by the hostess and seated. The waitress wasn't too far behind getting our drink order. For our appetizer, we ordered the Ahi Tuna over a bed of wasabi slaw. The tuna was so tender and so fresh it tasted like steak. Fish is slowly growing on me, guys. For entrees, I ordered Shrimp and Grits. Blackened jumbo shrimp served over pepper jack grits and finished with andouille cream sauce. The grits were so creamy it melted in your mouth and the shrimp had excellent flavor and wasn't too spicy. My fiance ordered the Grouper sandwich with Southern Slaw as the side. The sandwich had great flavor and is the best in town. The slaw has the perfect balance of vinegar and mayo. It's almost dry but, that's not a bad thing since you can actually taste everything.
