State of Confusion- 301 East Main street

The name fits the restaurant well due to the fact that if you walk in at what you might think the main entrance is, you will most definitely be confused. The first part of the restaurant is a bar. You have to walk down the side walk where you will find the outside patio complete with a large firepit and what looks like individual firepits at each table, though there weren't any at the tables. The host will greet you at an umbrella before entering the patio section and will ask if you would like to sit inside or outside. We chose to sit inside since it was a bit cool. We chose to sit in a booth as we always do and to our surprise there was no space to move much as the tables were too close to the seats and we had a hard time eating comfortably. The waitress didn't explain the menu as they normally do with new restaurants. In fact, she didn't seem to want to be there. They have different menus depending on the time of day you go. We got there after 11A.M. so, we were given the brunch menu. We decided to order an appetizer, which isn't really considered an appetizer, the mexican ceviche.
For those who know me well, I don't like fish, let alone raw fish. This is the best ceviche I have ever had! It's very unique with it's own avocado bowl. The chips tasted a bit stale though, which is a shame since they are homemade. For entree, I got the Breakfast Strata. It's a combination between a quiche and a savory bread pudding. It has sausage, andouille, eggs, grilled peppers and onions, pepper jack and cheddar cheeses and comes with a side salad. Any entrees come with the breakfast bar, which we didn't realize, or told about.
The strada had a little more bread than I would've liked. But, the flavors were good. The salad was just all right. I'm not used to eating chia seeds and it seems they put them in a lot of their dishes. My fiancee ordered the Over Easy Burger. As a side, he got the confusion potatoes, which are regular and  sweet potatoes. The burger was juicy and the egg wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The potatoes were good, you get both a salty and sweet flavor from them.
We asked if they had deserts and again the waitress didn't seem to want to help. So, we went with the Banana, pecan and honey overnight grains.
The only bad thing I have to say about this is that I wish this dish was served hot instead of cold. Other than that the flavors were awesome together! My favorite part about it was the candided pecans. The grains looked black because they had chia seeds mixed in. Now, would I/we come back? Probably not. why, you ask? It's not that the food wasn't good. It was the atmosphere. The restaurant has a bar that's separate, but, it also has a bar in the restaurant as well. It's not my scene. We felt like we were the oldest people in the restaurant. It's a place for millennials to go and drink and eat bar food. As I said, it was after 11 in the morning and people were already drinking. I can only imagine how it would've been later that night since it was Saturday. Don't let my opinion keep you from trying this restaurant. Everyone has their own feelings about bars/clubs and alcohol and that is just how I feel.
