The Inn on the River in Pigeon Forge, Tn
If you are looking to get away for a couple of days or a week, here's a few suggestions and tips on where to stay and eat (or not) in Pigeon Forge. Two weeks ago I had a 3 day weekend and spontaneously packed our bags and went away on a weekend getaway. So, we didn't have a room reserved and had to blindly pick one. After checking out a couple of places we finally decided on a place called The Inn on the River. Walking in I noticed that in was very clean and the staff was very friendly and willing to help. Checking in was quick and easy. Remember to give your email address so that you can join their rewards program, trust me you'll want to as you'll stay here more than once! Upon arriving in our room we found it very clean. I was expecting to find the normal of out date patterned comforter, instead, we saw nice, clean white sheets and comforters. We happened to get 2 beds in our room and they were both very comfortable.
The size of the mini fridge was just right. I didn't there should've been a coffee maker, a microwave instead.
The bathroom was also clean and bright. The only thing I could find wrong was there was no vent. The toiletries were not some random brand, ladies are gonna love the fact that it was Bath and Body Works. There were plenty of towels, hand towels and cloths.
The indoor and outdoor pools and whirlpool spa are a great way to relax at the end of the day. They even provide towels so you don't have to bring your own or take one from the room and they have a bin to place used towels.
The lobby at night is filled with people playing cards, dominoes, chess, checkers, and other board games. They offer free ice water, sweet and unsweetened tea, coffee and hot chocolate throughout the day. And at night you can sit by the fire pit in a relaxing rocking chair while eating your free popcorn that they offer every night from 7-10pm.
The patio offers a view of The Little Pigeon River with tables and chairs, all covered. If you are looking to order room service, they do have a display in the lobby of what they offer and the prices. They also sell tickets to Dollywood, they have the price with tax displayed. Oh, and before I forget, the breakfast! It's pretty good for a hotel. It includes: waffles( you make them fresh yourself), grits, oatmeal and toppings, eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy(which is pretty good), fried potatoes, a few pastries, bagels, bread to toast, 3 varieties of cereal, milk, and a machine that has orange, cranberry, apple, and grape juices. A separate machine with Hawaiian iced Kona coffee, flavors are mocha and french vanilla, too strong and sweet for me since I don't really drink coffee. Its within walking distance of a few shops, restaurants, and plenty of entertainment, for example there's a $5 movie theater that has 3 of the newest movies out. We saw Deadpool 2 and The Life of the Party because it was pretty hot. This place is great and we will definitely be back!
