Baxter's Family, Food and Fun 8023 Hixson Pike

If youre looking for a family oriented, kid friendly place to eat this is it! Walking in to this restaurant has a different feel to it. It either feels like a sports bar without the alcohol or walking into a good friend or family members house(which I love). The owner and staff make you feel at home and are very friendly. This restaurant has something for everyone from the food, to the arcade games that are in each corner, to the pool tables(there are 4 of them), to the game room that includes skee ball, to the karaoke in the front, and the flat screens tv's on the walls.
After looking at other reviews, the onion rings seemed very popular and for a very good reason! Which is what we decided on for our appetizer.
They have a salty, yet sweet flavor from the batter that makes these onion rings so good! The burgers are unlike anything in the area. My boyfriend ordered The Big Cheese. This baby has 2, yes, 2 grilled cheese sandwiches in place of the top and bottom buns.
I ordered the Glazed Baxter Sliders, two glazed donuts in the place of the buns. 
And finally, for desert, we ordered the fried oreos and fried cheesecake. One of the kitchen staff said that he hated cheesecake until he tried it fried. These are both so heavenly!

We can cross our fingers and hope that fried Twinkies are on their way to the menu as another member of the kitchen staff was trying it on his lunch break. Lots more improvments are to come as they pick up the pieces that the former owners left. They have fun activities throughout the week so, bring the whole family for some good, clean fun!

Ooltewah's newest restaurant has soul

Davis Wayne's is located in Cambridge Square in the old Cuban restaurant location. They opened back in October and honestly I wish I would've known about this place before now. Everyone is friendly and that makes you want to come back. Food is very good. The Pork Tenderloin is very good, not too spicy. The mac and cheese is off the chain, very cheesy! The greens are seasoned perfectly, which is hard to find in a restaurant. The broccoli is al dente and also perfectly seasoned and covered in real cheese. You can tell its not cheap, processed cheese. The fried corn is buttery and also seasoned right. The sweet potato casserole is good and is torched on top. Chicken is so tender not even a butter knife is needed to cut it, juicy and flavorful. The cornbread is great! Menu style is different. Now, the desserts are made from scratch every day. Mike's Tavern

Mike's Tavern is located at 5211 HWY 153 in Hixson behind California Tortilla and across the street from Smoothie King. We were immediately greeted by the hostess and seated. The waitress wasn't too far behind getting our drink order. For our appetizer, we ordered the Ahi Tuna over a bed of wasabi slaw. The tuna was so tender and so fresh it tasted like steak. Fish is slowly growing on me, guys. For entrees, I ordered Shrimp and Grits. Blackened jumbo shrimp served over pepper jack grits and finished with andouille cream sauce. The grits were so creamy it melted in your mouth and the shrimp had excellent flavor and wasn't too spicy. My fiance ordered the Grouper sandwich with Southern Slaw as the side.
